Lately there has been a flurry of vitriol directed at this blog post here. This man had the audacity to suggest that women are different from men (oh my!) and that parents should not assume that every daughter should be sent to college. To back up this attempt to encourage parents to be thoughtful rather than to be automatons he provides "8 Reasons to NOT Send Your Daughter to College."
In the dozens of comments I've read from professing believers, I have yet to read even one that addresses the truth of any of his points. There is much wailing and gnashing of teeth, to be sure, but no displays of logic or attempts at argumentation.
In the interest of being illustrative, I shall create my own list and then use the comment section to repeat some of the silliness being passed off as legitimate criticism of the notion that a woman ought not necessarily attend college.
8 Reasons to NOT Send Your Daughter to be a Stripper
1. She will attract the wrong types of men.
2. She will be in a near occasion of sin.
3. She will not learn to be a wife and mother.
4. The cost of her dance lessons will be difficult to recoup.
5. You don't have to prove anything to the world.
6. It could be a near occasion of sin for the parents.
7. She will regret it.
8. It could interfere with a religious vocation.

Well, maybe those things would apply if it was a secular club, but what if it is a Christian strip club?

Ugh! Disgusting! I've had this drivel beat into my head since I was a small child. I don't even need to read this article.
What? She won't learn how to be a wife and mother? Nothing in "real life" teaches that either.
You just hate women. Why don't you just put a ball and chain on your daughter?
I find it disturbing that any parent is discussing what he will or won't do with an 18 year old woman. She is an adult for crying out loud! It is her decision, not her parents'. Their job is to be supportive of her decisions, not to make them for her.
She'll be exposed to the wrong type of men? Well the same could be said of men who go to strip clubs. They will exposed to the wrong types of women and men aren't even mentioned in this post!
What you aren't thinking about is that even if she chooses to become a wife and mother, her husband could die or leave her and then she would be left with no skills at all to make a living. A stripper is the perfect job for a mother. She can stay home with her children during the day and then work at night and make plenty of money to support herself and any children she might have. It's a win-win.
The Bible doesn't say anywhere that a woman can't be a stripper. Show me the verse or shut up!
Just another misogynist. Move along people, there is nothing to see here.
What about Deborah and Rahab and Lydia? The Bible holds out those women as great examples and they had jobs or had their own businesses. They didn't need a husband to care for them. They were strong and independent women and modern women should have these same options.
Women can do lots of things. There is nothing wrong with a woman having an income. The Proverbs 31 woman was a merchant ship and a farmer and a seamstress and a real estate agent. I think the variety mentioned in that passage means that if God gives a woman talent in an area, she should not waste that talent, but use it to the glory of God and the benefit of her entire family.
This person obviously just wants to control women and keep them in their place. FREEDOM! (use your William Wallace voice here for maximum effect)
My mother was a stripper, and she was a godly woman. You don't know what you are talking about.
Ha Ha Ha Ha!
